Hay
In addition to the livestock we raise (beef cattle, sheep, chickens, turkey, ducks and geese), we also grow a variety of grains, oilseeds, and legumes, including alfalfa for hay.
Last summer we cut and baled 550 acres of alfalfa hay, for our cattle and sheep, and for sale. We get two cuts of hay from our fields, weather permitting -- the first cut in early July, and the second cut about seven weeks later. We try to get our hay baled with as little rain as possible, and then cover the bales to keep them from being exposed to the elements.
If you're interested in purchasing alfalfa hay bales, first or second cut, small square bales or big round bales, please give us a call. Our big round bales weigh 1700 pounds each.

Straw
Our straw bales from 2022 are made from wheat, oat, and barley straw. We have large round bales available for purchase, as well as small square bales.
Grains & Pulses
We grow a rotation of hard red spring wheat, barley, oats, and peas.
We clean our threshed grain ourselves on the farm using a vintage Hart Emerson Viking fanning mill, as shown in the 1960 sales flyer at right.
Among the wheat varieties we grow is Red Fife wheat, a Canadian heritage variety and our country's oldest wheat, dating back to 1842; Red Fife is thought to have originated as Halychanka wheat in what is now western Ukraine. It makes excellent flour, so contact us if you'd like to purchase this rare grain.
We offer Red Fife flour we milled ourselves, as well as cleaned, bagged grain for you to mill yourself if you prefer. In addition to grain for human consumption, we offer poultry feed which is high in protein and energy -- the mix consists of our own peas, wheat, and flax. Let us know whether you're feeding layers or broilers.

Flour
We have a small grain mill and can grind our Red Fife wheat for whole wheat flour. Please let us know if you're interested in this option, and if so, if you'd like it sifted (which makes the whole wheat flour lighter). Place your order here!
