About Chatsworth Farm
Welcome to Chatsworth Farm! We're the Wasylik family -- Rick & Johanna, Charlotte & Rob, Nick, Alex & Breanne. We're helped by Lizzie, Nessie and Fred, our Great Pyrenees guardian livestock dogs; Millie, our Red Heeler cattle handling puppy-in-training; and a herd of very friendly farm cats.
Our farm is located in east central Alberta, about two hours east of Edmonton, where we raise beef cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese as well as grow cereal and legume crops on more than 2,500 acres of beautiful rolling parkland. We have a passion for raising and growing sustainable, ethical, and quality beef, lamb, poultry, eggs, pork, and grains.
Rick, whose grandparents all farmed but whose parents did not, started the farm in 1993 and married Johanna the following year. The farm is named after the old Chatsworth school district in which it's located, and we can see the pioneer one-room schoolhouse from our front porch.
Our farm has had an Alberta Environmental Farm Plan for more than 10 years. We work with Ducks Unlimited through their wildlife conservation grazing program; with the Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) program through our county which offers nature-based solutions on farm land which helps build community resilience and fight climate change and biodiversity loss; and we're part of the Verified Beef Production Plus (VBP+) program, which enables certified beef cattle operations to prove to consumers and retailers that the operation adheres to the highest standards for food safety, animal care, and environmental stewardship.
Our family has found it so rewarding to be able to support an ever-growing community of Albertans who care about the food they eat and want to support sustainable, environmentally-conscious farming.
Thank you for supporting our family farm, and local agriculture. If you'd like to see daily views of the farm, visit our Instagram account to follow along!
