Alberta Open Farm Days 2022
Chatsworth Farm and our family are very excited to be participating in our third Alberta Open Farm Days, on Saturday, August 19th. Open Farm Days is a province-wide open house for Alberta farms, who invite their urban and rural neighbours to stop in for a visit. Join us for the day to meet the people behind the farm, see where your food comes from and learn more about farming, enjoy a day out, and reconnect with nature.

Our farm will be open to visitors on Saturday, August 19th, 2023 from 11 am to 4 pm for free tours and demonstrations. If you have any questions, please check out our FAQs below or please contact us directly.
Open Farm Day at Chatsworth Farm includes:
- Getting up close with our farm animals on our livestock tours
- Meeting our family, plus Lizzie, our guardian livestock dog and Chief, our cattle dog in training
- Farmers Market (cash, e-transfer, POS): Berry View Farms, Bonne Vie Bakery, Chatsworth Farm, Copper Cork Distillery, Fraiche Flower Farm, J6 Baking with Isabelle Jacula, Old School Cheesery, Pottery by Dellaney, and Wilds Acre
- Machinery demonstrations
- Hands-on farm activities
- Ice cream
- Picnics in the pasture
- Tours of the garden
- BBQ lunch throughout the day, featuring farm products

Open Farm Days at Chatsworth Farm FAQs
Q: What should I bring?
A: Dress for the farm, with closed-toed shoes, layers, and a hat (good for sun AND rain!), and water bottles. Also: sunscreen, insect repellent, hand sanitizer, and a lunch or snack including beverage and picnic blanket, which you can enjoy while picnicking in our pasture
Q: How much does it cost?
A: We're happy to be offering free guided tours of our farm! We will have a a Farmers Market featuring amazing vendors, so if you’re interested, bring cash and a cooler for any purchases.
Q: Can I bring my pet? S/he’s very well behaved!
A: No. For our animals' health and safety, and the health and safety of all participants, please leave your pets at home.
Q: Where are you located?
A: Our farm is northwest of the town of Vermilion. Click here to find the Google maps location and follow the Open Farm Days signs.
Q: What can I expect during the Open Farm Days visit at your farm?
A: Have you watched our Virtual Farm Tours? You'll get that experience, and so much more! Engage all of your senses on our 45-minute guided tours. Registration is required (and free) and spots are limited!
Q: Will there be toilets and hand-wash stations available on site?
A: Yes, there will be portable washrooms and sanitation stations on site. Handicapped access units will be available as well.
Q: Can I smoke, or consume alcohol or cannabis, while attending Open Farm Days?
A: No. Smoking is not permitted on the farm and there are no designated smoking areas on the property; the risk of fire with straw and hay bales, machinery, and fuel on the premises is great. The consumption of alcohol is allowed only from vendors and cannabis is not permitted.
Q: Are there drinking water refill stations on site?
A: Yes, get the full farm experience and fill your bottles at our hydrant with fresh cool well water!
Q: Where can I park my car/van/truck?
A: We'll have designated parking areas so please follow the signs and parking directors upon arrival.

Health & Safety
- Please wash/sanitize your hands frequently while you’re here, especially after touching animals and before eating or drinking.
- Parents are reminded to watch their children at all times, as this is a working farm. Please tell your children to respect the animals at all times: no sudden movements, chasing, or loud noises, and touch/handle all of the animals gently.
- If you or anyone in your group are feeling at all unwell and/or exhibiting signs/symptoms of Covid-19, monkeypox, or hand-foot-and-mouth disease, please stay home. We'll see you next year!
