Picture
Register now for Alberta Open Farm Days at Chatsworth Farm!

Chatsworth Farm and our family are very excited to be participating in our second Alberta Open Farm Days, on Saturday, August 14th. Open Farm Days is a province-wide open house for Alberta farms, who invite their urban and rural neighbours to stop in for a visit. Join us for the day to meet the people behind the farm, see where your food comes from, enjoy a day out, reconnect with nature, and learn more about farming.

Our farm will be open to visitors on Saturday, August 14th, 2021 from 11 am to 4 pm for free tours and demonstrations. If you have any questions, check out our FAQs below or please contact us directly.

Open Farm Day at Chatsworth Farm includes:

- Getting up close with our farm animals on our livestock tours
- Meeting our family & Lizzy, our guardian livestock dog
- Pop-up shops featuring:
Chatsworth Farm, Old School Cheesery, and Fraiche Flower Farm (cash, e-transfer, POS)
- Machinery demonstrations

- Mini donuts, including our OFD signature farm-inspired mini donuts from Go Nuts 4 Donuts
- Picnics in the pasture
- Tours of the garden
and so much more!

Health & Safety

If you’re feeling sick or have any coronavirus symptoms on August 14th, please stay home. We'll see you next year!

Please wash/sanitize your hands frequently while you’re here, especially after touching animals and before eating or drinking.

Parents are reminded to watch their children at all times, as this is a working farm. Please tell your children to respect the animals at all times: no sudden movements or loud noises, and touch/handle all of the animals gently.

Open Farm Days at Chatsworth Farm FAQs

Q: What should I bring?
A: Dress for the farm, with closed-toed shoes, layers, and a hat (good for sun AND rain!), and water bottles. Also: face mask, hand sanitizer (we’ll have some but it’s always a good idea to have your own), sunscreen, insect repellent, and a lunch or snack including beverage and picnic blanket, which you can enjoy while picnicking in our pasture (limited food/beverages will be available on-site)

Q: How much does it cost?
A: We are happy to be offering free guided tours of our farm! We will have a pop-up farm stand stocked with farm-raised beef, lamb, eggs, and produce, so if you’re interested, bring cash and a cooler for any purchases.

Q: Can I bring my pet? S/he’s very well behaved!
A: No. For our animals' health and safety, and the health and safety of all participants, please leave your pets at home.

Q: Where are you located?
A: Our farm is northwest of the town of Vermilion. Click here to find the Google maps location and follow the Open Farm Days signs.

Q: What can I expect during the Open Farm Days visit at your farm?
A: Have you watched our Virtual Farm Tours? You'll get that experience, and so much more! Engage all of your senses on our 45-minute guided tours. Registration is required (and free) and spots are limited!

Q: Will there be toilets and hand-wash stations available on site?
A: Yes, there will be portable washrooms and sanitation stations on site. Handicapped access units will be available as well.

Q: Can I smoke, or consume alcohol or cannabis, while attending Open Farm Days?
A: No. Smoking is not permitted on the farm and there are no designated smoking areas on the property; the risk of fire with straw and hay bales, machinery, and fuel on the premises is great. The consumption of alcohol and cannabis are also not permitted.

Q: Are there drinking water refill stations on site?
A: Yes, get the full farm experience and fill your bottles at our hydrant with fresh cool well water!

Q: Where can I park my car/van/truck?
A: We'll have designated parking areas so please follow the signs and parking directors upon arrival.

Q: What if I’m not feeling well on the morning of Saturday, August 14th, but I’ve registered to attend?
A: Please stay home and look after yourself. We’ll see you next year!
